Giving Back

We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.”

- Mother Teresa

Unbound Sponsor

(2021-present)

Unbound is a nonprofit organization that works with families (children, parents, and elders) living in poverty. Donating gives a ‘hand up’, not a ‘handout’ which allows families to work towards becoming self-sufficient. This organization is extremely efficient with over 92% of donations going directly towards program support.

This is Yami, the young girl I am sponsoring. She lives in Southern Mexico with her family and is currently attending kindergarten.

I have the honor of communicating with her grandmother through e-letters that are translated between English and Spanish.

Yami is a happy and healthy child that enjoys learning and playing with her friends and family.

To help more kids like Yami, sponsor a child or make a one time donation today.

Dakota Malchow Computing Scholarship

(2019-2020)

The Dakota Malchow Computing Scholarship was created to encourage interest and participation in the field of computer science. Its goal is to provide financial support to a student that shows passion in programming.

Each year, a one time award of $500 will be made to one student.

Criteria for Submission:

  • Applicant must be a graduating Wes-Del High School senior
  • Applicant must submit a personal programming project
  • Applicant must submit a brief explanation of at least 200 words

The personal programming project should be a program written in one or more programming languages. The program should be worked on individually. Receiving help for ideas is encouraged, but the actual writing of code should be done by the individual student. Previous class assignments and personal projects are acceptable to submit.

Preference (in order) will be given to:

  • A program that is coded cleanly and follows good standards
  • A program that the student is passionate about
  • A clear and well written explanation

Please note that this scholarship has no requirement for GPA or major/field the student plans on pursuing after high school. This is purposely meant to be open-ended to give any graduating senior at Wes-Del an equal opportunity.
